Ellie began teaching trumpet and brass 7 years ago, and has since had students of all ages and abilities come to her for lessons. As a peripatetic teacher for Surrey Arts, she teaches students aged from 7-18 on a weekly basis, in addition to running ‘Wider Opportunities’ whole class instrumental teaching. Over the years she has been a regular deputy in schools in Camden and Hertfordshire, covering trombone, French horn, tenor horn, baritone, cornet and trumpet lessons.
Ellie also has room for private students, and enjoys teaching adults of all abilities. She aims to make brass playing accessible through a supportive and fun atmosphere, and a use of varied repertoire and styles.
Community and Outreach projects have included workshops for the Teenage Cancer Trust, song-writing workshops in conjunction with English Touring Opera for people with Altzheimers, a minimalist project with schools in Camberwell and the London Sinfonietta, and brass demonstrations in numerous schools. Ellie has worked for Hackney Music Development Trust as a guest artist, helping to run music-making sessions for the under 5s.
